Panel hears plans for Warrior Field revamp; committee stresses track safety

Clayton Anderson said the full project could range from about $5 million to $8 million depending on scope and that the district expects to partner with donors and other entities. He told the committee the district would likely present a draft showing the level of capital-fund commitment they could offer and would seek financial commitments from other partners.
Committee members were emphatic that at minimum the track must be made safe for use. Chairman John Carr said the track is currently unsafe and should be a capital priority, noting that in its present condition the facility cannot host meets. "It is truly not safe to be run on," Carr said. Anderson said the district is considering phased work but cautioned that if the field is replaced later it could complicate doing the track work separately.
