District seeks roll-off containers for Clinton Central site; grant submitted to cover equipment and hauling

The district is pursuing a plan to reduce staff labor at the Clinton Central Recycling Center by placing roll-off containers inside the facility's large overhead doors and using a hauler to swap full containers on a regular schedule. Director Joel said he and staff began staffing the site July 1 and that the location ships roughly 24–30 pallets per week, creating substantial manual labor to load and reset boxes.
Joel said the district has the containers on hand and sought hauling quotes from Wampler: "$80" per pull for in-town service and "$100" per pull in the county, which he estimated would amount to roughly $4,800 for the remainder of the year if pulls occur twice weekly. He said some or all of those hauling fees were included in a grant application for four roll-off containers that he submitted with Carol Price and Bridal; Joel said the district submitted the grant by the deadline and expects to hear a decision in December. He emphasized that placing containers inside the building depends on obtaining permission from the local school superintendent and verifying that the containers will physically fit the doors.
"It would alleviate us from having to do a lot of a lot of physical labor," Joel said, describing the roll-off plan as an "elegant solution" if the school agrees to allow containers inside the building. Board members agreed the director should contact Superintendent Levi to measure the doors and confirm feasibility before implementing the change.
