Justine Holline, the fair director, told supervisors the county will accept debit and credit card payments at the fair gates using Square; processing fees are 2.6% plus 15 cents and the county plans to pass those fees on to purchasers. "So the processing fee for that would be 28¢, totaling $5.28," she said by way of example for a $5 admission ticket.
Holline also outlined operational benefits (offline storage of transactions if Wi-Fi drops) and said the county will use the same POS for facility rentals and online payments. She announced an Oct. 31 car show and trunk-or-treat (vendors and carnival set up for cards/cash) with candy provided by Freeport and invited supervisors to upcoming fair preparations.
