During public comment, Chelsea Lee, a student at Fernando Ledesma High School, told the board that Ledesma had been formative in her life and that staff there "gave me hope." The board heard a brief public‑comment statement and then turned to superintendent announcements.
Superintendent Dr. Zuniga reported that a four‑member visiting team closed its WASC visit earlier the same day and delivered positive initial findings. He said the team noted strengths including experienced leadership, strong facilities and community partnerships, and access to technology, and he listed areas for growth such as leadership capacity building, expanded CTE course offerings and focused attention on math achievement and teacher collaboration. Zuniga said he expected the site to receive a six‑year accreditation and that district staff would work with the school on remaining improvement items.
The board did not take action on the WASC report at the meeting; Dr. Zuniga offered to provide more precise outcomes and data in a follow‑up memo to trustees.
