Supporter says Monroe County School Board committed roughly $4 million to Coral Shores field

At the July 27 meeting, supporter Rich Russell said the Monroe County School Board had committed ‘‘over $4,000,000 or an estimated $4,000,000 for the cost of this state of the art facility.’’ He thanked council members for pursuing a joint workshop that he said produced the tentative agreement.
Village Manager Ron Saunders told the council the school district would act as tenant and had taken on the bulk of improvement costs. The funding commitment was cited by multiple supporters as a reason to move forward so youth teams could use an improved field next season. Council approved the field-focused agreement and the school board was scheduled to consider identical language the next day.
