"The number of patrons in February was down 31%," a library representative said, adding that carpet work and fewer days in February explained most of the decline. Parking-lot milling and resurfacing estimates were discussed (rough estimate cited: about $33,000 for milling and asphalt plus $10,000 for striping), and staff said they would seek additional bids. The library also reported that the family of former head librarian Norma Boyer (d. Feb. 23, age 95) will hold a private memorial at the library on April 5.
The council asked for cost details and suggested staff continue exploring other bids and potential public–private assistance for capital work. The motor vehicle commission visit (Aug. 19) and other community-service items were also discussed as part of committee reports.
