Staff recommends compliance finding for River Protection Act review of proposed gravel-lot expansion

At the work session staff presented a certificate‑of‑compliance request under the Metropolitan River Protection Act for a property on Highway 166. Austin Cronin summarized the history and technical analysis, saying the corridor extends 2,000 feet from each bank and that the property falls in B and D vulnerability categories.
Cronin told commissioners the Atlanta Regional Commission found the proposed layout consistent with the corridor plan, and staff recommended adopting those findings so the county would have a determination about whether a future expansion would comply with the Act. "As a brief history, in 1973, the General Assembly adopted the Metropolitan River Protection Act," he said, adding that the Atlanta Regional Commission's findings inform whether a proposal would be compliant.
There was no formal vote on the item during the work session; the presentation served as a preview for the public hearing scheduled for the following day.
