The Baldwin County Public Schools Board approved a superintendent-backed subscription to the CERCO school-safety system after staff described successful pilot tests at Robertsdale Elementary, Perdido School and Fairhope High School. The motion to approve the CERCO subscription was moved by April, seconded by Jason, and passed by voice vote.
David, a staff member who led the pilot presentation, said, "We've been piloting this program. It's a school safety program." He told the board CERCO offers three main functions: visitor management tied to an offender registry that can discreetly alert the school resource officer and administration; reunification notifications to parents during evacuations; and student check-in/check-out linked to PowerSchool. Staff noted one implementation challenge at Perdido was a parental app learning curve; parents can still check students out through school offices while the district addresses onboarding. The board approved the subscription as presented (agenda exhibit referenced).
