Kelly Andrews explained the company’s proposal and the grant mechanics: "The expected grant award is a $100,000 for Project Stratosphere... and we would provide the required 5% local grant match, which would equal $5,000," she said, adding the project anticipates approximately $580,000 in private investment and a minimum of 13 new jobs over 18 months.
The board opened and closed the hearing (no members of the public spoke in opposition) and approved the request that the county serve as applicant and grant manager, authorize the county to provide the 5% match if required, and allow the chair to sign an economic development agreement and resolution to support the application. Staff will return with documentation requirements for receipt and disbursement if the grant is awarded.
