Board approves county to apply for $100,000 building‑reuse grant for Project Stratosphere

Kelly Andrews asked the board to authorize the county to serve as applicant and grant manager, explaining the expected grant award and conditions: "The expected grant award is a $100,000 for Project Stratosphere... we would provide the required 5% local grant match, which would equal $5,000, and this would be contingent upon their investment of approximately $580,000 for the upgrades to their existing facility in Pitt County and their creation of a minimum of 13 jobs above the Pitt County average salary over 18 months," Andrews said.
The board opened and closed the public hearing with no additional speakers and approved the motion to apply and authorize the chair to sign the resolution and economic development agreement required for the application.
