Engineer and administrators update committee on road projects, boat ramp, Centennial Park work and brush/repaving schedules

Township Engineer Alex Hafner provided an update on multiple infrastructure projects: concrete cores are being analyzed at the Crossings site; the 2024 road program in front of Waterfront Park and Zurbrook Mansion is being closed out; Newton's Landing paving and punch-list work is nearly complete; the 2026 Hickory Street storm-pipe replacement is planned for fall pending DOT review; five intersections will receive new handicap ramps; and the Union Avenue boat ramp extension is scheduled for fall construction to support emergency access.
"We anticipate construction this fall," Hafner said regarding the Hickory Street storm-pipe replacement, and he said Centennial Park improvements (pavers, plantings and new trees) should be ready for the October centennial celebration. Township Administrator Deb Ciminera added that staff and public-works crews attended CPR training and that the new brush-pickup schedule will begin Aug. 10, with pickup every other week aligned to recycling.
PSE&G update: a committee member said PSE&G expects to start local-road paving (beyond Burlington Avenue) on Aug. 11, weather permitting, and that a confirmed schedule will be published to residents later in the week. The committee asked staff to notify residents about striping and parking impacts when the contractor schedule is finalized.
Why it matters: the projects affect traffic, parking and park-ready conditions before the township's centennial events; officials urged residents to follow detour signs and watch for paving and striping notices.
