Kim said the district designated herself as the designee for ICE calls and that staff were trained to prioritize student privacy and FERPA protections and to call legal counsel if needed.
Board members asked whether the district had seen any such incidents; Kim said not in Oregon and that instances in other places (she referenced Chicago schools) had been reported but the district had not experienced ICE entry attempts. She advised the board the district would follow judicial warrants and legal requirements while trying to limit disruption to students.
