Student representatives updated the board on recent and upcoming student activities and community events, and board members and parents commented in support.
A student reported a 0.25 celebration on Nov. 6 with gift-card rewards for students with 90% or better attendance and announced a fall play on Nov. 19 and 20 at the MacKay auditorium. Another student summarized senior mock interviews held Nov. 3 in the MACI gym and encouraged continued community involvement. A parent praised the "pastries with pals" event and urged the district to continue opportunities that engage students and families.
Why it matters: student-led reports give the board direct insight into school climate and highlight volunteer contributions and opportunities for parent engagement. Board members asked for a wider range of school updates at future meetings so smaller schools' activities are also represented.
