Flagler County schedules Zoom interviews to narrow county-administrator candidates

The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners decided Aug. 3 to hold preliminary interviews by Zoom for its county-administrator candidates, then reconvene to narrow the list for in-person consideration. Charlie Picano, the county’s HR director, said the board’s goal was "to pick people to interview" and build "a consensus on who to interview" after reviewing the FACM shortlist and applicant materials.
Commissioners discussed whether to cut the pool to three on paper or to allow more candidates through an initial interview stage. Several commissioners said they preferred seeing six candidates via Zoom to evaluate presentation and fit rather than eliminating applicants based solely on resumes. Picano said he would coordinate schedules and prepare a set of standardized questions; the board tentatively targeted Aug. 10 for initial Zoom interviews and the Aug. 17 workshop for follow-up deliberations.
