County planner: Sheridan County seeing a surge in subdivision applications, pilot permit-timing plan

Mark Reed, Sheridan County planner, told commissioners that the county is experiencing an unusually high volume of subdivision applications. "We've got 9 applications in the works," he said, noting the number is higher than he has seen previously.
Reed described a pilot program to meet an upcoming statutory timeline: the department is building a spreadsheet and workflow to review permits for completeness within 10 days and send notices, a process that would initially apply to structures under 3,000 square feet. The goal is to have the pilot in place well before the July 1 requirement.
Commissioners asked follow-up questions about a recent RV-park application and process timing; Reed replied the only recent RV-park approval was the Smith RV Park at Lodore approved several months earlier. He invited commissioners and other staff to see how the permit-tracking spreadsheet works before implementation.
