Parent urges district to clarify Mayfair marching band season amid construction

Beaver said parents were told at April and May meetings that the band might not compete because of construction, limited rehearsal space and funding uncertainty, but that the principal "very much wants a field season to happen." She asked the district to provide a decision before the next parent meeting (June 16) so families can organize rehearsals, fundraising and staffing. "For our students, staff, and parents to be able to put on the best show possible... we all really need to know by our next parent meeting, which is next week on the 16th," Beaver said.
She framed the request as support for a longstanding program legacy and asked the district to assist with fundraising given the school's history of high-level competition and community visibility. The board acknowledged the concern and the comment will be part of follow-up communications from the superintendent's office.
