Students showcase Mark Richardson Center CTE programs to board

The Mark Richardson Center (MRC) brought student panels to the board meeting to showcase six CTE pathways — agriculture, engineering and machining, culinary arts, baking and pastry, construction, and diesel/cybersecurity — and describe hands‑on coursework, competitions and internships.
MRC director Andrea Felder Lee told trustees the center serves students from all four high schools and highlighted alignment with Allan Hancock College dual‑enrollment courses. Student presenters described practical outcomes: “My favorite part of this class is the opportunity to, eat what we produce as well as share it with our community by going to local farmer markets,” said Ivy, a Santa Maria High School student in the agriculture pathway. Another student, Max Herman, said advanced diesel students earn multiple certifications and reported an internship offer from the MRC.
