First Selectman Denise Raap thanked the Department of Public Works for sending a crew of four with a chipper and chainsaws to Harwinton to assist with cleanup after the July 4 storm. She said the crew might continue efforts through the week due to severe damage.
Raap also reported DPW assisted Region 20 by removing trees to make room for a new parking lot at Lakeview High School. She said she received an email from a resident about students crossing Route 202 and acknowledged that a crosswalk and stop light are not options; John Bongiorno said he will raise the parking and student‑crossing concern with Region 20 Superintendent Dr. Villar at an upcoming meeting.
The Board noted DPW Director Raz Alexe has been instrumental in assisting Region 20. No specific timeline or funding commitments were made at the meeting for crossing improvements; Board members indicated they would seek more information from Region 20 and follow up.
