Selectman Jodiann Tenney resigns; Anne Dranginis appointed to finish term

First Selectman Denise Raap and the Board of Selectmen accepted Jodiann Tenney’s resignation at the July 7 meeting and immediately moved to fill the vacancy.
"It has been a pleasure serving on the Board," Jodiann Tenney said as she announced her resignation, adding a recent job opportunity would prevent her from arriving home early enough to continue in the role. The Board voted to accept the resignation; Tenney abstained from that vote. The Board then appointed Anne Dranginis to serve out the balance of Tenney’s term, effective July 8. The appointment motion by Jeff Zullo, seconded by John Bongiorno, passed unanimously.
First Selectman Raap explained the procedural reason for timing: under State Statute 9‑222 a new member cannot be appointed until the resignation is effective, so the Board shifted agenda items to accommodate the change. Board members thanked Tenney for five years of service during the meeting’s acknowledgments.
The change was handled during the meeting’s personnel business; there was no executive session reported. The Board will update the town roster and notify voters of the appointment according to standard town procedures.
