Crystal Anderson, speaking for Edgemoor Drive residents, asked the board to prioritize pedestrian-safety and traffic-calming improvements after a neighborhood speed study found alarming results and showed repeated violations.
Anderson summarized the study data during public comment: "A speed study revealed the highest recorded speed on this 0.5 mile block was 67 miles an hour," she said. She asked the board to direct staff to restore crosswalk markings, re-install pedestrian signage, evaluate the need for continuous sidewalks and consider permanent engineering measures before a serious injury occurs.
Anderson said the neighborhood has repeatedly contacted the town and police and thanked Sergeant Digler and Mooresville Police Department for prior assistance, but said more comprehensive engineering work is necessary to slow traffic. The board acknowledged the request and asked staff to evaluate Edgemoor and return recommendations.
