Board approves updated Beginning Teacher support plan

Kim Lilly presented the board with an updated Beginning Teacher support plan that formalizes orientation, mentor training and monitoring processes for teachers in years one through three. "Tonight, I'm essentially just asking for approval of the plan so that we can resubmit this plan to the state," Kim Lilly said, noting the plan was last approved in 2021 and that state board guidance required more explicit detail in some areas.
The board asked a few clarifying questions about timing (orientation begins tomorrow) and then moved and seconded to approve the update as presented; the chair declared the motion carried. The plan will be resubmitted to the state as the board directed.
