Service Department details Austin Road reconstruction, watermain testing and planning for new operations complex

Tiedman said crews focused on the Austin Road reconstruction—demolishing deteriorated concrete, installing structural frames, pouring and finishing new concrete, removing forms and performing final site cleanup. He reported crews also responded to a water main break on Highland Road, establishing traffic control per Cleveland Water and cleaning the area after repairs, and that the Highland‑Trebisky transmission main renewal watermain has passed testing.
Tiedman described ongoing citywide grounds maintenance, trash and restroom sanitation at park facilities, removal of deceased animals from public rights‑of‑way, rototilling at Greenwood Farm gardens, and installation of a temporary mailbox on Trebisky Road. He noted Verdantas conducted a comprehensive site assessment and staff meetings to inform conceptual designs for a future Service Department complex as staff transition toward planning the 2027 fiscal budget.
No formal council action was taken on the Service Department planning at this meeting; the report documents operations, completed work, and next steps for project design and budgeting.
