The board packet contains a resolution providing instructions to the Cook County Clerk under Section 18-195 of the Property Tax Extension Limitation Law (PTELL) on how to proportionally reduce levy extensions if the clerk must reduce the aggregate extension for the district.
The resolution directs that, if reductions are necessary, the Operations and Maintenance extension for levy year 2024 "shall be reduced to an amount not less than $1,550,000," and that, if more reductions are needed, the Educational extension "shall be reduced to an amount not less than $18,900,000" (unattributed quotations from resolution text in packet) (SEG 193–195). If further reductions remain necessary after those steps, all other extensions (other than Educational, O&M and Debt Service) are to be reduced proportionately (SEG 196).
The text reiterates that the instruction is being provided because Section 18-195 of PTELL requires proportional reductions by the county clerk unless the taxing district otherwise requests a different allocation. The packet includes a roll-call template for adoption and certification language but does not show a recorded vote or adoption on Nov. 7 (SEG 185–206).
