Facilities report: work‑order 'blitz' completed hundreds of repairs but funds are depleting

Director Glenn Infuso said the blitz reduced the open queue from 661 to 184 — completing about 477 work orders — and raised most schools' FIT ratings from fair/poor to good. "We did 477 work orders in that short period of time," Infuso said. Managers described site‑by‑site repairs including roofing, tile and ceiling work, waterline replacements at Malibu Elementary, and repairs following vandalism and fire damage.
Business manager Jerry Gibson told the board facility funds are being spent rapidly: of roughly $5 million allocated across several facility funds, about $3 million has been expended to date, leaving a little over $2 million for ongoing work. Staff noted roofing needs estimated at about $6.25 million to $6.5 million, requiring future budget planning and possible reallocation.
