Resident sings plea to "save the old Franklin Reservoir" during public comment

During the public-comment portion of the Aug. 4 hearing, a registered speaker identified by staff as Brian S. used his allotted three minutes to perform an original song urging the county to "save the old Franklin Reservoir." The performer repeatedly described the site as "the last wild place where we live" and framed preservation as a legacy for children and future generations.
County staff responded after the comment period, telling the board and audience that the Franklin Reservoir matter is an active land-use case under staff review. Staff reminded residents that commissioners cannot discuss pending land-use applications in a public meeting and encouraged anyone who wants their remarks to be considered as part of the formal record to submit comments directly to the Community and Economic Development Department or to attend the scheduled land-use hearings. "Comments outside of the formal land use application and hearing process are not considered part of the case record," staff said.
The Chair closed the public-comment period after staff remarks and the meeting continued with other agenda items.
