Council honors VFW leader Danny Gann for state appointment

The Mishawaka Common Council on Aug. 3 adopted Resolution R-2026-28 honoring Danny Kaye Gann for his election and appointment as state surgeon for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Department of Indiana. The resolution recited Gann’s long history of volunteer and leadership roles with VFW Post 360 and other veteran-support activities and noted the appointment brings recognition to Mishawaka.
Council members offered praise during the meeting. A council member said, “All I can say is, wow. I had no idea all the things that you're involved in and, you're a credit to Mishawaka,” and the presiding officer highlighted Gann’s work on local projects that help homeless veterans. Gann, who addressed the council from the podium, said, “I'm very humbled at at this resolution. It means a lot to serve this community,” and described his continued commitment to veteran projects in Mishawaka and St. Joe County.
The council voted to adopt the resolution. The presiding officer said the mayor would sign the resolution the following day and that copies would be provided to Gann and VFW representatives.
