Providers say Passport is denying supply charges; Passport ops asks for claim samples

Providers and billing companies told the TAC that Passport — unlike other MCOs — is asking for itemized supply lists and then denying supply charges, a practice they said runs counter to HCPCS/claims norms. A billing representative said: "they want the claims electronically every way possible, but then they come back and they want an itemized list of your supply charges where no other provider no. None of the other MCOs, want this. This is passport." The speaker said adding itemized charges has not resolved denials in the examples they shared.
Britney Eads, operations with Passport, responded that Passport posts a supplier list online and asked providers to send specific denied claims so Passport's operations team could investigate: "We do have our supplier list posted online. But with that being said, can you share some of the claims that you're receiving the denials for that are requesting your itemized bill? We can have our ops team to take a look and see what's going on there with those." Providers agreed to send samples and requested Passport place an operations contact in the meeting chat for follow-up.
