County Engineer Johnny Kincer briefed the commission that his office approved plans for a proposed data center at Progress Park and that he is currently working on pond work at the Hitachi Energy Arena.
Deputy County Administrator Matt Hankins provided a timeline for county infrastructure supporting Progress Park, saying, "The Progress Park connector road; it should be finished by late summer/early fall of 2027." He also summarized local VDOT projects including proposed additional climbing lanes toward Bland and an aligned four‑way intersection project at the former Italian Garden location on Monroe Street, and reported that the new northbound I‑77 entrance is open while southbound work continues.
Hankins said the county’s Route 52 sewer project is up and running and that the Water Department is pursuing a larger pump station for Siloam and Shadow Lane to serve increased housing and larger pipe needs. The updates were presented for informational purposes; no formal action was taken at the meeting.
