Several residents told the council they supported delaying data-center approvals. Barb Church, 102 Wheeler Avenue, "stated she approved of the Council’s consideration of placing a moratorium on the construction of data centers." Lucy Lowry, 2263 Northridge Drive, said she also agreed with placing a moratorium and asked why an ordinance and public hearing were required; City Attorney Kennedy explained that an interim ordinance requires a public hearing and formal adoption.
Council did not adopt a moratorium at the meeting; it scheduled a hearing to consider an interim ordinance and any necessary study. The hearing date was set by motion and recorded as unanimously approved.
