First Selectwoman Jennifer Mahr told the boards that she and CFO Seth Bernstein met two different insurance brokers who reviewed the town’s policies and premiums. Both brokers identified instances where the current insurer charged the town both as broker and again through policy fees and routed policies through a wholesaler tied to the current broker, creating extra administrative costs.
Mahr said the town’s current policies expire June 30, 2026, and the town will be changing brokers. She conservatively anticipates $35,000 to $40,000 in savings for the 2026-27 budget based on the broker reviews.
