Commission approves one vehicle for board use, tables sheriff and EMA purchases pending SPLOST

On Oct. 1 the commission approved purchase of one vehicle for Board of Commissioners use and tabled two other vehicles requested for the sheriff’s office and EMA until the December meeting.
Commissioner Jason Frost moved to approve the vehicle for BOC using credit so the purchase would not be lost and to table the other two until the county knows SPLOST outcomes; Commissioner Damon Hoyte seconded and the vote was recorded as unanimous. County Manager Thomas Weaver said the goal was to avoid replacing five or six vehicles at once because of lease turn-ins and current budget uncertainty.
The motion left open the option of reallocating an existing Tahoe from the sheriff to EMA if needed; no final replacements for sheriff or EMA were authorized at the Oct. 1 meeting.
