County agrees to appraise Lamoille Lions Camp property ahead of potential donation and leaseback

Commissioners approved a motion to obtain a commercial appraisal of the Lamoille Lions Camp property and associated assets to facilitate an anticipated donation of those assets to Elko County and a subsequent leaseback to the Lions Club for continued community use.
Katie McConnell (Speaker 12), representing the Lions Club, and county staff described the arrangement: the county would become a co-lessee on the Forest Service ground lease, accept the club’s rebuilt assets once appraised, and lease the facilities back to the Lions Club for a nominal amount so the nonprofit can continue operations while the county secures insurance and ensures long-term public access.
McConnell said some items are in mixed ownership (personal vs. real property) and that the appraisal is the first step to resolve the legal and insurance questions; commissioners moved and approved seeking the appraisal so the parties can finalize a sale and leaseback agreement prior to fire season.
