Roger Douglas and environmental department staff said the city will perform the work and the lien amount for each parcel is set under applicable statutory procedures. Roger noted the lien remains with the property: “The lien will stay with the property,” he told the board. Staff said notices had been provided more than 30 days before the hearing as required by law and the amounts will be certified to the Miller County tax collector as delinquent taxes.
Board members asked about collection effectiveness; staff said the city typically collects these weed-lot liens when property taxes are paid or when a parcel changes hands.
