County staff presented an overview of several state bills that the commission may want to review and comment on before committee deadlines.
"I've got ones like, AB204... and ones that the commission has already supported or opposed," staff said, noting that some bills will need to be heard by the end of the week. Staff highlighted AB104 (identified as a water-rights retirement/buyback measure), SB36 and AB89 (provisions governing temporary conversion of agricultural water). He said that as of late in the day, some bills had been heard with no action; others remain pending with committee deadlines looming.
Commission members asked for the list to be shared; staff agreed to circulate the full list and to track hearings and committee actions. No formal county position or recommendation was recorded at the meeting; commissioners discussed which items they want to prioritize for review.
