Board to wait on bench moves while park rehab plans emerge; addresses West End dumping and burned house cleanup

Trustee Thompson raised the possibility of relocating benches to Jello Park/Forest Glen, noting there are four new benches available and suggesting various options for swapping older benches. Deputy Clerk Prehn said the Village still has four new benches for the park and discussed options for moving existing benches.

President Counley asked the board to hold off until they hear from Ben Valletta, who the board expects will present rehabilitation and expansion plans for the park at a future meeting. "Can we hold off on that and see what Ben Valletta is going to be doing up there with rehabbing the park and adding on to it," Counley said.

On blight matters Trustee Walter reported a resident dumping gravel on an empty lot near West End and noted the board had discussed a hole on West End; Counley said Sergeant Beatty had already spoken with the individual and discussed temporary safety measures. Counley also told the board he had contacted the owner of a burned house on Maple Hill and warned that animals were entering the structure; the owner was told to clean up the property or face daily citations.

The board did not adopt any immediate orders on benches or the burned property at the meeting but scheduled follow-up and inspection steps.
