Resident says neighbor tree caused repeated outages; village says it needs arborist letter to act

Resident Glen Gates told the board his neighborhood lost power again after a neighbor’s tree fell and said he confronted the neighbor and demanded removal and payment for damage. Deputy Clerk Prehn told the board the village needs an arborist’s letter saying the tree is dead "that’s how we can get in his backyard," and President Counley said he will speak with Com-Ed about the repeated outages.
Trustees said they will compile lists of trees and bushes to determine which are in utility easements (village responsibility) and which are resident trees subject to homeowner action; the board intends to notify residents whose vegetation encroaches on easements and will put a stronger reminder in the newsletter that branches must be 15 feet above the road.
