Millsboro promotes Dallas Milner to sergeant; police chief reports staffing, K‑9 and drone updates

Chief Moyer used his department report to confirm a promotion and provide several operational updates. He said the department’s first round of sergeant promotions elevated senior corporal Dallas Milner to sergeant and noted the department expects to be at full authorized staffing (21 officers) by Sept. 4. The chief also reported accreditation and program metrics for the department’s K‑9 and drone units.

On the promotion, Chief Moyer said, “senior corporal Dallas Milner was, selected to be promoted, to to rank a sergeant.” He also told the council the department was voted for reaccreditation: “they voted to approve us, for reaccreditation for the 6th time, which gives us 17 years of being, nationally accredited.” The chief reported the K‑9 unit’s detection ‘success’ rate is about 30 percent and that drone patrols logged about 624 minutes across 15 flights in the past month. He described a process for applying seized‑asset money to a statewide fund called SLEEP, which agencies can later apply to use for drug‑and‑violent‑crime enforcement or community programs.
