McCullom Lake board presses for more officer coverage as squad computers need replacement

President Terry Counley told the Village of McCullom Lake Board on Aug. 26 that the department’s squad computers "are not compatible with Windows 11," and that replacing them could cost about $4,500 apiece. The board asked staff to collect pricing on refurbished units and present options at the September meeting.
Trustee Zakrocky read the monthly police report for July 21–Aug. 25 and noted recent department activity, including removal of an event tent. Deputy Clerk Prehn said Chief Beatty posted a recruitment ad on a site called "The Blue Line" and the department had received seven applications; she added state training for the department was about 87% complete for the year. Counley said he expects officers to pick up additional shifts, including Friday and Saturday nights, to increase coverage. The board did not take formal action on equipment purchases at the meeting but directed staff to obtain pricing and return with recommendations.
