The board celebrated a series of retirements and long service recognitions at the start of the June 12 meeting. Superintendent Dr. Sabah and program leaders introduced each honoree and described contributions ranging from work in alternative education and SELPA data support to CTE instruction and community organizing. Veronica Ramirez was recognized for 42 years of service to alternative education; Jessica Little and colleagues described Ramirez as "conscientious, deeply committed to student success, warm and engaging."
Other honorees included Bonnie Schindler (34 years supporting students across programs), Diane (25+ years organizing and championing early‑childhood and childcare initiatives), Kimber Collins (18 years as instructional aide and guidance counselor), Sean Patrick (building trades instructor and CTE lead) and Rudy Lopez (longtime Watsonville fire chief and CTE instructor). Trustees and staff offered brief personal tributes and the board presented awards and applause to attendees.
