Planning staff schedules data-center regulation hearing; county commission discusses venue and timing

Judy Clark, planning staff for Lincoln County, told commissioners she has advertised a Planning Commission public hearing on Aug. 11 covering proposed data center regulations, conditional-use rules and a data center matrix. Clark explained legal notice requirements and said the earliest the county commission could hold a public hearing for the same matter would be July 31 if printed notice deadlines are met otherwise the meeting would need to be later to comply with the 10-day advertising requirement.
Commissioners discussed logistics and whether to use the county courtroom or City Hall for a larger venue and overflow; Clark said City Hall has a larger council chamber, overflow room and YouTube capability. "I have it on for the 11th at City Hall... I thought that would be the best option," she said, and commissioners asked her to coordinate notices and confirm locations so the county hearing could be scheduled with proper advertising.
The board emphasized the need for clear public notice and suggested an option A/option B plan depending on turnout at the planning commission meeting, with staff to monitor attendance and finalize the county hearing venue after planning commission quorum and turnout are confirmed.
