After council actions on hiring and tabling, the clerk explained how the city proceeds to formalize hires and contracts. The clerk said the typical process is for candidates to submit a packet including qualifications and proposed agreement terms; the clerk will place the packet in the council agenda materials and then present the item for council approval.
"I'll put it on the agenda, and I guess it's we probably — I'm next Wednesday. So I will get on the phone with them, like, now ... Before I leave and tell them they need to go ahead and send in their packet and get it on the agenda," the clerk said, describing the timing and paperwork. Councilors confirmed they expect to review candidate materials in the agenda packet before the mayor executes any contract.
