The River Trails School District 26 Board approved multiple construction-related recommendations for the Indian Grove renovation on Sept. 10, authorizing bid alternates, an HVAC procurement and construction-management fees.
The Operations Committee recommended awarding Priority 1 (Alternate 3 — asphalt playground repaving) and Priority 2 (Alternate 5 — Euclid cafeteria flooring) while rejecting Alternates 1, 2, 4 and 6; the board approved that recommendation (motion by Robert Rognstad; second by Rebecca Pfisterer). The board then approved an Operations Committee recommendation to acquire the HVAC equipment and building automation systems from Trane at a cost not to exceed $2,323,405. That motion passed with one dissent (Louis Camardo).
The board also approved a construction management fee structure: a 4.0% construction management fee, liability insurance at 0.69% of construction costs, and a fixed general conditions fee of $209,500 (totaling $714,508). The board noted an estimate from "Nicholas" of approximately $350,000 for reimbursable costs. These approvals passed with the same single dissent from Mr. Camardo on the voting record.
What this means: the approvals allow work on Indian Grove and related Euclid scope items to proceed under the recommended procurement and oversight structure. Administration and the Operations Committee will manage the next contracting and project-execution steps.
