Pasco board studies process for superintendent evaluation tied to Policy 1630

Board President Lerman convened a Pasco School Board study session focused on identifying annual objectives for the superintendent evaluation required under District Policy 1630. Superintendent Whitney told members the session was informational only and said, "So the purpose tonight is to review of district policy 16 30 as it relates to the identification of annual objectives and provide time for the board to engage in discussion and identification of annual objectives for the 2627 school year."

Whitney said the board will not approve objectives tonight; instead members will complete rank-order sheets that staff will tabulate and present at the first August meeting. "The 1st board meeting in August, you'll have an opportunity to see the data around the rank order, and then you'll be asked to approve the annual objectives at the last meeting in August, and our 1st day of school is September 1," Whitney said. The goal, she added, is to narrow the board's focus to five to six key commitments that will drive the superintendent evaluation and district staff work for the coming school year.
