The Floresville ISD Board of Trustees opened its Sept. 9 meeting with school recognitions, naming Kelly Lane of North Elementary as the district's September Teacher of the Month and honoring students Zahra Payne and Owen Seibert. Principal Heather Brooks introduced Lane's 19-year career in Floresville and said Lane had taught special education and multiple elementary grades before returning to his alma mater.
"So I happily present to you, mister Kelly Lane, our September Teacher of the Month," Principal Heather Brooks said during the recognition. Brooks described Lane's classroom approach as "personalized learning" and noted extra supports such as math labs and teacher-led PLCs at the campus.
The board recognized students Zahra Payne and Owen Seibert for academic performance and leadership. Payne's teachers described her as "worldly, intuitive, and driven," and Brooks said Seibert helps "raise the bar" in his class. Trustees thanked staff and families and recessed to allow guests to take photos before moving to the public portion of the agenda.
The recognitions were part of a longer superintendent's report and preceded committee business and public comment.
