Chief Heene told council the Pateros Volunteer Fire Department continues maintenance and training, that Gage Carson will fill the captain position until the next election, and that Amber Heene will serve as Safety Officer. He also said the department's Haskel air multiplier is over 20 years old, unused for about 15 years, and has no value to the station; he recommended giving it to Fire District 5.
Councilmember Holly Bange moved to transfer the Haskel air multiplier to Fire District 5; Frank Herbert seconded and the motion carried unanimously. Chief Heene also announced 'Christmas in the City' scheduled for Dec. 13 from 5:30–7:00 p.m. and the clerk later reminded the public that volunteers are needed to help serve the community.
The action disposes of obsolete equipment by transferring it to a neighboring district; interim staffing assignments were noted prospectively.
