The Missouri Valley City Council voted to set a public hearing for 6:00 p.m. on Aug. 4 to consider rezoning some 58 properties along the Erie Street corridor and a corresponding amendment to the official zoning map.
A staff planner explained the proposal would change future land‑use designations to promote a more uniform corridor and primarily central-business use while still allowing residential uses in many cases. The planner told council that county tax assessment and changes in tax burden are determined by the county and not the city and that staff mailed roughly 165 notices to nearby property owners within 200 feet of affected parcels.
Council approved the motion to set the hearing by roll call. Staff said the public will have additional time to comment at the Aug. 4 hearing.
