The Abingdon-Avon CUSD 276 board voted to adopt the FY2027 school calendar, which administrators said mirrors much of the current year while shifting some staff training days. The calendar uses an 185‑day teacher calendar (students 176 days) to include five built-in emergency days; administrators said unused emergency days will be dropped and the last day of school adjusted earlier accordingly.
Mrs. Craver explained new-teacher training starts the week of Aug. 14 and in-service days are scheduled to give teachers a full week before students arrive. The board discussed Good Friday and spacing of professional days; the superintendent said staff development dates will be proposed later and that the calendar allows for five built-in snow days, making the worst-case last student day May 27 and the best-case May 21. The motion to approve the FY2027 calendar passed by roll call.
