Board backs pavement maintenance plan; superintendent says project may qualify for $50,000 maintenance grant

He told the board that the bid was lower than expected and indicated the district intends to apply to the Illinois State Board of Education maintenance grant program, which "you get up to $50,000" for qualifying projects. Bill said timing matters — if the district waits until spring it may lose the vendor’s scheduling window — and staff recommended moving forward and applying the grant toward the work.
A motion to approve the pavement-maintenance proposal was moved, seconded and approved by roll call. The superintendent noted the project is likely to be funded in part by the ISBE maintenance grant and that staff will include it in next-year budget planning if needed.
