Burke County to pilot online appeals, step up outreach to seniors and veterans

Travis Isaacs said Burke County will pilot an online appeals process intended to speed case routing to the appropriate appraiser and allow taxpayers to submit appeals electronically. "We're actually getting ready to test that from what I understand to make sure. Because this will be the 1st time we've done it," he said.
Isaacs also said the office will update the county website and do in-person outreach at senior centers and veteran events to help residents—particularly elderly and disabled taxpayers—understand exemption rules and the appeals process. Committee members asked staff to share the full presentation by email and to develop a concise outreach team for community presentations.
