Superintendent Bill presented a Buildings & Grounds recommendation to contract with Elite Turf to renovate the baseball and softball infields and pitching areas, citing deteriorated surfaces and safety concerns for student-athletes.
"Our baseball field, regardless of what we do with it in the future right now, needs some work," Bill said, describing overgrown infields, uneven bases and high mounds that require professional regrading and reconstruction. The board discussed the proposal and confirmed that the recommended contractor and staff contact (Daniel Irons) would perform the work.
A motion to approve the Elite Turf agreement was moved and seconded and the board adopted the motion by voice/roll call; the chair announced the motion carries. Board members asked whether the city would contribute to renovation costs; staff said no city contribution was confirmed yet and that David Brown was working on possible arrangements.
The item will proceed under the Buildings & Grounds plan and be scheduled with the contractor.
